Job Description Summary
MUSC Community Physicians (MCP), part of the Medical University of South Carolina, is dedicated to providing exceptional healthcare to patients across South Carolina's rural health network.
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you'll play a vital role in our team by delivering high-quality nursing care under the guidance of a registered nurse. You'll be responsible for caring for a defined patient population, assisting with data collection, patient care planning, and evaluating the outcomes of nursing actions.
Key Responsibilities :
- Provide patient / family-centered care by acting as a partner and adviser, helping patients manage their healthcare while respecting their values and preferences.
- Utilize critical reasoning and clinical judgment to expedite appropriate care, especially for patients with complex or potentially life-threatening conditions.
- Assist medical staff with patient examinations and procedures, including interviewing patients to gather data, documenting findings, and monitoring vital signs.
- Perform telephone and in-person screenings while prioritizing patient communication regarding medications and medical conditions.
- Maintain clean and stocked examination rooms.
- Document all patient care in the medical record according to established policies and procedures.
Minimum Education and Experience :
To qualify for this position, you must have graduated from an accredited Licensed Practical Nursing program and hold a valid LPN license in South Carolina or a compact state. While one year of LPN experience is preferred, we welcome applicants who demonstrate a commitment to patient care. A current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
