PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Prevention and Intervention Specialist will assist the Director and Program Manager with meeting the goals and/or objectives to develop a tiered system of supports as outlined in the district improvement plan, and support sustainability and capacity building of MTSS implementation with fidelity at the district and school levels.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Educational Level:
Master’s degree from an accredited educational institution or equivalent working experience.
2. Certification/License:
Professional Educational Certification Required in Teaching, Counseling, Social Work, or another related field.
3. Experience:
Knowledge of a multi-tiered system of support (MTSS/PBIS) model, implementation of MTSS, and intervention strategies;
Experience designing and delivering professional development

- This position is work that involves limited amounts of physical activity.
- Requires the ability to stand up to six hours in an eight-hour work day,
- Requires the ability to lift up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 20 pounds occasionally.
- The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, climb stairs, stoop, kneel and crouch as well as push, pull and reach overhead with hands and arms.
- Requires significant time using a computer, including prolonged use of monitor and keyboard.
5. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Essential Functions:
- Daily attendance and punctuality are required for the purpose of ensuring the goals of the work unit can be met.
- Work collaboratively with district administrators, school-based leadership teams, and teachers to facilitate implementation of a multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS/PBIS) at the district and school levels.
- Monitor the fidelity of implementation of MTSS/PBIS at school sites, including the identification of students, delivery of Tier 2 and 3 interventions, and progress monitoring.
- Coach school sites on analyzing student needs and identifying research-based interventions across academics, behavior, and social-emotional learning (SEL).
- Help establish data collection and analysis procedures through a data system to inform decision-making around student needs and district/school resource allocation.
- Attend the District Continuous Improvement and MTSS District Improvement Plan Goal Team meetings.
- Coordinate and facilitate MTSS/PBIS professional development and training for school-based and district staff.
- Compile and report on the effectiveness of interventions on a monthly basis to improve district and school systems.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with families, staff, and community members.
- Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
