CLEANING TECHNICIAN JOB DESCRIPTION
Muse Knoxville is a children’s Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, & Math (STEAM) museum in Chilhowee Park. We inspire & empower ALL children through transformative learning experiences through a variety of hands-on and inquiry-based exhibits and Outreach programs for children aged 6 months to 10 years old. A Cleaning Technician at Muse Knoxville plays a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and overall appearance of our facility, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all visitors, especially children.
LOCATION: Muse Knoxville 516 N Beaman St Knoxville, TN 37914
POSITION TYPE: Part-time, Hourly
SCHEDULE: Sunday-Thursday, 2nd Shift, 15-20 hours per week (hours are flexible between 7:00pm-7:00am)
COMPENSATION: $17-18/hour, dependent on experience

This position reports to the Director of Museum Operations and is considered a part-time position. Quarterly feedback and annual reviews are provided.
AS A CLEANING TECHNICIAN YOU WILL …
- Perform routine cleaning tasks, including but not limited to sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing surfaces.
- Empty trash receptacles and replace liners.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, floors and mirrors.
- Maintain cleanliness of exhibit areas, including interactive displays and play areas.
- Monitor and request replenishment of cleaning supplies as needed.
- Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for staff and visitors.
- Notify management of any maintenance or repair needs observed during cleaning duties.
- Work collaboratively with other staff members to ensure efficient and effective cleaning operations.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Prior experience in janitorial or cleaning services required
- Must pass a background check
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on cleanliness and hygiene
- Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Flexibility to work 2nd shift hours, including evenings and weekends
- Ability to lift, push and pull up to 40 pounds and physical stamina for working hours on feet, bending, and reaching
- Must be at least 18 years of age or older
