The Museum of Science needs you to join a team of exhibit creators to make the exhibits of today and tomorrow.
What You'll Accomplish
- Build and install prototypes and final exhibits, both independently and as part of a team, using strong carpentry skills, expertise in wood and other materials, and a keen attention to detail to achieve the goals of the exhibit development team, while adhering to safety standards and industry best practices.
- Assist with maintaining the museum's permanent and temporary exhibits by loading and unloading trucks, assembling components, and refurbishing older exhibits, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for guests.
- Use your tool knowledge to clean, repair, and maintain shop equipment, ensuring everything is in good working condition for the team and meets safety standards.
This is a full-time position with some schedule flexibility between the hours of 5 : 00 am to 3 : 00 pm, Monday through Friday.
What We're Looking For (Competencies)
High standards : Has a nose for quality and does not accept results below a lofty standard. Checks and rechecks to ensure their work is correct, thoughtful, and meets the high level of craft and construction quality need for a museum environment.
Attention to detail : Does not let important details slip through the cracks or derail a project.
Technical chops : Knowledge of materials, industrial wood-working tools and fabrication skills needed to complete the work at a high level of quality. Finish Carpentry / Cabinetry experience desired.
Efficiency : Able to create jigs and templates to work effectively with minimal wasted effort.
Safety, Environment and Sustainability : Demonstrates an understanding of safety, environmental and sustainability policies, procedures and standards; proactively integrates these principles into work practices and decision-making processes. Demonstrate responsible behavior by prioritizing the protection of human health, safety and the environment. Actively identify and address potential hazards to protect the well-being of our visitors, staff, animals, collections and environment. Engage and collaborate with supervisors, colleagues, and relevant stakeholders to address safety, environmental and sustainability issues and concerns.
Collaboration : Works as a productive member of the production group to complete individual and group projects; fabricating, painting, assembling, and cleaning to help the team achieve its goal.

Salary Range
27.71—$32.69 USD
