About Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church
We are a vibrant, young parish of 4,100 families in northwest Houston, TX, seeking a talented, experienced professional organist to serve as the principal organist in our dynamic, innovative music ministry.
The parish is growing rapidly and will soon complete construction of a new 1,500-seat worship space.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Accompany 3 Sunday morning Masses and 2 mid-week choir rehearsals
- Accompany weddings and funerals and other services on occasion
This position includes particular privileges for weddings and funerals.
The parish's choral and congregational repertoire emphasizes music normally accompanied with organ.
Requirements
- A degree in organ performance or equivalent experience and knowledge of organ repertoire
- Colleague-level AGO certification or equivalent
- Familiarity with Roman Catholic liturgy
- A warm, engaging personality
The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in organ playing and a deep understanding of Roman Catholic liturgy.
Working Conditions
The position entails an average of approximately 10 hours of work weekly (5 hours during the summer).
