Position Overview
The Production Engineer oversees the manufacturing process, ensuring that production runs smoothly and efficiently. This role involves planning and organizing production schedules, assessing projects and resources, Ensure compliance with the production plan within the established quality, time, and cost standards. Ensuring the best use of the allocated resources. Constantly generating solutions to improve performance and results to contribute to the increase of productivity and the reduction of all types of waste in all production lines and packaging, including auxiliary processes and requirements, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. Demonstrates Mustad values, showing respect for and engagement with co-workers, especially as it contributes to a quality product and organization success.
Key responsibilities
- Planning and Scheduling: Develop and implement production schedules to meet demand and deadlines.
- Supervision: Oversee daily production operations and resolve any issues that arise.
- Staff Management: Motivate, inspire, and supervise production staff to achieve set goals.
- Quality Control: Monitor production processes and adjust workflows for maximum efficiency.
- Budget Management: Estimate, negotiate, and agree on budgets and timescales with clients and managers.
- Health and Safety: Ensure that health and safety regulations are met.
- Resource Management: Select, order, and purchase materials.
- Training: Organize relevant training sessions for staff.
- Communication: Liaise with buyers, planners, tech areas, engineering, management, and relevant staff.
Essential Job Functions (required duties and responsibilities)
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Control the use of the allocated resources and act in case of deviations from the established standards to ensure the target cost, including the OEE and scrap levels in all production areas. - Define and assure the fulfillment of the objectives and indicators of each of their production areas, carry out performance evaluations, and give timely and constant feedback to ensure compliance with the expected results.
- Manage the necessary resources to ensure the manufacturing process, including the determination of personnel, raw materials, and productive assets, guaranteeing a functional structure that allows us to obtain the expected results under the structured ERP processes.
- Seek continuous improvement of the processes under his/her charge using the tools provided by the MPS and/or the existing management models in the organization.
- Prepare production budgets establishing cost control in collaboration with master planning. Use cost-benefit analysis to improve cost efficiency to ensure a functional structure and contribute to increasing profitability and meeting the company's objectives.
- Lead the DEC pillar of the MPS.
- Manage the inventory levels of spare parts, raw materials, and consumables through the formulation of statistical models that allow us to understand trends to make decisions regarding the optimal inventories, possible shortages, or purchasing emergencies.
- Accountable for production cost targets. Managing all resources in production to achieve Mustad goals and identifying improvement opportunities.
- Responsible for industrial safety, environmental control, and quality management in all production areas, including packaging.
Education, Experience, and Skills Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, manufacturing, or a related field.
- Proven 5 years of experience in production management within an industrial setting. Minimum 5 years of experience as head of production planning or plant leader in industrial processes.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, strong leadership abilities, and a deep understanding of industrial production processes
- Fluent in Spanish
- Proven experience in Lean manufacturing and TPM.
Desirable Skills/Attributes (preferred but not required)
- Specialization in Management of Production and/or Operations and/or Logistics
- ISO 9001/14000/18000 experience.
- Knowledge of the ERP Dynamics 365 production module and MRP
- Microsoft Office Advanced
- Has worked in companies with operational excellence processes implemented (Lean, TPM, SixSigma)
- Attention to Detail: Ensuring high-quality standards are maintained.
- Adaptability: Ability to adjust to changing production needs and schedules.
Physical Demands
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer

- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
Work Environment
- Office setting in manufacturing/distribution facility environment
- Infrequent domestic and international travel
- Exposure to plant and warehouse environment, including heat, humidity, dust fumes, gases, toxic/caustic chemicals, airborne particles, and significantly loud noise; Exposure to moving mechanical parts online, as well as moving equipment throughout the factory or warehouse
- Mandatory use of company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
