JOB SUMMARY
The EDM Tool Maker will review specifications on blueprints to determine materials required and equipment necessary to fabricate tooling for use in the cold heading manufacturing. Will use precision measuring devices to ensure quality and verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of work done.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
An EDM (Electrical Discharge Machine) operator's responsibilities include:
- Setting up and programming: Preparing the EDM equipment to ensure it functions properly
- Operating: Using the EDM to shape materials through a series of electrical discharges
- Maintaining: Keeping the equipment in good condition
- Quality control: Ensuring the finished products meet quality standards
- Safety: Maintaining a safe work environment and following safety regulations
- Communication: Supporting the team and communicating with coworkers
- Problem-solving: Identifying and addressing potential issues
- Documentation: Recording time spent on each job activity
EDM operators may also:
- Measure, mark, and document material dimensions
- Program software applications like CAD, CAM, and Agie
- Perform G-code programming
- Monitor the machining process
- Inspect finished products
- Collaborate with quality control
- Inform management of any issues

- Knowledge of OSHA requirements to include Electrical Safety, Machine Guarding, and Authorized Lockout/Tagout Procedures

- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
- Understanding and compliance with safety rules and regulations

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Trade school apprenticeship experience preferred.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience making tooling for the cold heading manufacturing process is required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., and anything over requires help and/or handling equipment. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand for periods of time, walk and reach with hands and arms. Good close vision and depth perception skills and must be able to stand for shift durations.
