JOB SUMMARY
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing manufacturing processes to improve productivity, quality, and cost-efficiency. Collaborates with other departments to improve overall manufacturing operations.
REPORTING TO
Engineering Manager
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION
- Performs a variety of engineering assignments in developing and implementing production/processing methods and controls to meet quality standards in a cost-efficient manner.
- Collaborate with production teams to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues on the manufacturing floor.
- Evaluates process flow and plant layout recommending and implementing improvements and/or modifications in sequence of operations and equipment utilization to improve through put, reduce labor/manufacturing costs, and improve safety.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
- Conduct time studies to identify areas for improvement in the manufacturing process.
- Reviews proposals of outside vendors regarding the purchase of new or modernized production/processing equipment and monitors equipment upgrades and improvements.
- Continuously monitors operations to ensure compliance with approved safety methods and quality standards.
- Performs root cause analysis and provides solutions to quality, production, and safety issues.
- Coordinates and develops manufacturing schedules for projects.
SKILLS and ABILITIES
- Strong technical and analytical ability.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, or related field required.
- 5 years of experience in a precision component manufacturing environment, CNC Lathe or Davenport machining experience preferred.
- CAD/CAM Software experience required.
- Metallurgic experience preferred.
