Overview
As our Medical Waste Collection Specialist & Warehouse Manager, you will oversee the safe collection, transportation, and storage of medical waste while managing our warehouse operations. This dual role requires expertise in hazardous waste handling protocols and efficient inventory management as well as fleet management for assigned vehicle(s). This is a salaried position.
Responsibilities--Medical Waste Collection
Collection personnel play a key role in the success of MWaste. The selected individual will be responsible for safely and efficiently collecting packaged medical waste and shredding from clients throughout SE Florida and delivering to a warehouse in the SE Florida area. This job requires an individual with great customer service skills including the ability to converse with customers, fellow employees, management and various regulatory agencies. Candidates must be professional in appearance and present themselves well. The job requires many stops per day which will require the driver to get in and out of the truck and the cargo area repeatedly--up to 45 times per day.
- Collect regulated medical waste from hospitals, clinics, laboratories, and other healthcare facilities according to scheduled routes using a box truck or van throughout SE Florida
- Complete required digital documentation for waste tracking, chain of custody and regulatory compliance
- Conduct visual inspections of waste containers for proper packaging, labeling, and sealing
- Utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safety protocols during all collection activities
- Unload boxes/carts from vehicles at end of day into warehouse
- Perform various assigned duties during the collection and transport of waste
- Maintain neat and orderly appearance
- Demonstrate the ability to operate a smart phone or tablet
- Clean and maintain inventory of vehicle
- Load truck(s) with supplies for next day collection service
- Help organize and maintain proper inventory levels
- Assist management as directed
Responsibilities--Warehouse Management
This position will require an individual who is a self-starter and is able to manage their day accordingly. The assigned vehicle will be parked at a MWaste warehouse facility and the selected individual will be responsible for the management of warehouse activities.
- Oversee the storage and tracking of collected medical waste
- Manage inventory of collection containers, packaging materials, and supplies
- Ensure that waste is shipped for waste treatment and disposal in a timely manner
- Apply best-practices for proper waste handling procedures
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, HIPAA and state regulations within the warehouse facility
- Implement and enforce safety protocols for warehouse operations
Responsibilities--Fleet Management
- Selected individual will be responsible for maintaining a 16 ft box truck or equivalent vehicle
- Notify operations manager of any mechanical issue, dash light, odd noise, performance, etc.
- Coordinate minor scheduled maintenance with local service facility
- Maintain mileage log
- Maintain cleanliness of vehicle's interior and exterior
- Wax cab on a quarterly basis
- Perform daily DOT checks on vehicle prior to day's route
Skills/Requirements
- Proven working experience as a Delivery Driver with a minimum of two years driving small box trucks. Candidates MUST have verifiable driving experience. Do not apply if you don't have driving experience
- Valid professional driver’s license (less than three points)
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety protocols
- Excellent communication skills--Spanish and English preferred
- Demonstrate the ability to operate a smart phone or tablet
- High school diploma

- Work is performed in various environments including healthcare facilities, company vehicles, and warehouse settings
- Exposure to potential biological hazards with appropriate PPE and safety measures
- Early morning starts are required for scheduled treatment facility appointments
- Regular driving between collection sites in all weather conditions
- Indoor warehouse environment with exposure to temperature variations
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $21.00 - $24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
