Job Overview
We're seeking a dedicated and professional Front Office Medical Assistant / Receptionist to join our team. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for our patients and their families in a healthcare facility, ensuring smooth and efficient operations in the front office while supporting clinical tasks. In this role you will be expected to provide exceptional customer service while managing various administrative duties with basic medical assistant responsibilities to provide excellent patient care and service. This role requires strong organizational skills, proficiency in computer systems, and the ability to communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Duties
Front Office Duties
- Patient Interaction: Greet patients and visitors warmly, ensuring a welcoming and professional environment.
- Manage phone systems, directing calls to appropriate personnel and taking messages as necessary.
- Scheduling: Manage appointment calendars, schedule patient visits, and confirm appointments.
- Registration: Assist patients with completing necessary forms and ensure accurate entry of personal and insurance information into the system.
- Communication: Answer phone calls, respond to inquiries, and relay messages to appropriate staff.
- Billing and Payments: Process patient payments, verify insurance coverage, and coordinate with billing departments as needed.
- Records Management: Maintain and update patient records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Ensuring the front desk area is tidy and presentable at all times.
Medical Assistant Duties
- Patient Preparation: Escort patients to examination rooms, record vital signs, and document medical history.
- Assisting Clinicians: Assist healthcare providers during examinations and minor procedures as needed.
- Clinical Tasks: Perform basic tasks like taking blood pressure, measuring height and weight, and administering injections or vaccines if certified.
- Supplies Management: Ensure exam rooms are stocked and cleaned along with assisting in inventory management of medical supplies.
- Coordination: Communicate between front/back-office staff to ensure efficient patient flow.
Other duties as assigned within the scope of the office.
Experience
- High School Graduate or equivalent required.
- Valid MA Certificate, currentCPR, venipuncture and injection certificates required.
- 1-2 years’ experience as a Front Office MA and/or Receptionist is required.
- Ability to work independently as well as a team player is required.
- Bilingual English / Spanish is required.
- Excellent customer service skills is required.
- Very good verbal and written communication skills are required.
- Basicknowledge with a computer, fax machine, and printer/photocopier are required.
- Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems is required.
Compensation:
- This is a full-time, hourly position with the pay range of $21 - $22 per hour which depends on several variables that are unique to each candidate, including, but not limited to, job-related skills, experience, relevant education, training, licenses/certifications, etc.
