POSITION DESCRIPTION : Maintain and support the Department's Systems Management environment within the assigned Domains. Create, test, deploy, and validate software packages as needed. Create custom reports for Integration Services as needed.
Perform, evaluate and promote the testing and installation of hot-fix and patch deployment as per documented Office of Information Technology (OIT) processes.
Document assigned software and hardware as per OIT standard processes. Plan for required upgrades to hardware and software to maintain reliability, availability, and security. Assure compliancy with software licensing.
Maintain and support the File Transfer Appliance. Test, deploy and validate software upgrades as needed. Create custom reports for OIT and update documentation as needed.
Assist in the administration and maintenance of the Active Directory infrastructure, following relevant OIT standards, guidelines, processes or procedures.
Identify, analyze and resolve problems and issues within the area of responsibility through the use of troubleshooting tools and techniques as well as teamwork.
Follow OIT processes and guidelines in responding to Service Desk tickets. Display technical skills, knowledge, and competency in the assigned technical areas of responsibility. Monitor and update the status of Service Desk calls to ensure compliance with established guidelines. Provide a high level of customer service, providing status and information to the customer during the problem resolution process.
Participate in assigned teams, both internal and external to the Information Technology Offices. Contribute to helping build the team and accomplish the team goals. Attend required meetings; provide facts and opinions to assist the team's decision-making process.
Follow OIT processes for notification of problems which affect the availability, reliability or security of Information Technology components.
Stay current and knowledgeable of changes in Information Technology by reading trade magazines and technical manuals, attending conferences, seminars, and training to maintain knowledge within the area of responsibility.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES : Ability to plan and organize complex technical projects and activities related to computer infrastructure, office automation tools, and computer customer support; ability to maintain good working relationships; ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing; ability to solve problems and make timely decisions; ability to consult with management on technical matters related to computer infrastructure, office automation and customer support; knowledge of Local Area Networks / Wide Area Networks, personal computers and related components; knowledge and experience working with Windows Server 2003 / 2008 in an Active Directory environment; knowledge of desktop support environments; knowledge and experience in the Microsoft Windows desktop environment; ability to work with internal and external customers in a tactful and courteous manner; ability to build consensus and remain calm and effective under pressure; ability to develop and run custom reports with Microsoft server and client management tools; knowledge and experience with current scripting technologies; knowledge of Group Policy administration and management in an enterprise environment; knowledge of Active Directory administration and management; ability to administer Windows 2003 / 2008 Server and Windows XP / 7 Workstation operating systems; knowledge of networking concepts and implementations Internet Protocol addresses, subnets, Wide Area Network concepts, Local Area Network concepts, etc. and the following protocols : Transmission Control Protocol / Internet Protocol, Domain Name System, Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol, Windows Internet Name Service; ability to troubleshoot application distribution using Microsoft server and client management tools; ability to create and distribute packaged applications to a desktop environment using a Systems Management Software application distribution model; ability to develop and maintain technical documentation for supported systems; ability to exhibit a positive mental attitude and to embrace the constant state of change in the Information Technology industry, as well as the changes that take place within the department; ability to work alone while achieving quality output; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients and customers. Ability to lift and carry equipment that weighs up to 40 lbs.
OTHER JOB RELATED REQUIREMENTS : The incumbent of this position may be physically located in Central Office or District Office Headquarters.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : Four years of experience in computer systems analysis or in planning or designing distributed computer systems. Post-secondary education may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
