What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cafe Assistant position at MY Project USA?
MY Project USA is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Cafe Assistant to support our MY Community Cafe program. This is a part-time role, perfect for someone who is reliable, organized, and passionate about serving the community. The Cafe Assistant will play an essential role in helping prepare meals under the supervision of our main chef, delivering food, and assisting with food preparation for individuals experiencing homelessness through our homeless shelter program. The position will involve working Tuesday through Saturday from 4 PM to 8 PM.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the main chef with food preparation and kitchen tasks.
- Help ensure cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and serving areas.
- Deliver meals to designated locations as part of our community outreach.
- Prepare and package meals for individuals in the homeless shelter program.
- Work collaboratively with staff to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Maintain food safety and hygiene standards at all times.
- Assist in inventory management, including tracking supplies and notifying the chef of needed restocks.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to assist with food deliveries.
- Previous experience in food service or kitchen assistance is a plus but not required.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Passion for community service and helping those in need.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds as needed.
