What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Medical Assistant (Full-time) position at MyCare Health Center?
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Lead Medical Assistant assists the Practice Manager with day-to-day clinical operations, provides guidance to medical assistants and receptionists, and assists physicians with direct patient care.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Assists Practice Manager with day-to-day clinical operations.
- Provides guidance to medical assistants and receptionists.
- Trains and evaluates medical assistants for competency in clinical procedures.
- Assists in the compliance of all HRSA, NCQA, PCMH and OSHA
- Assists physician with patient care, e.g. office visits, procedures, and sterilization of instruments.
- Performs annual “Respirator Fit Testing” for assigned clinic staff and assists Human Resources with maintaining accurate FIT testing records.
- Administers injections.
- Draws blood and takes lab specimens.
- Renders first aid as necessary.
- Sets up, cleans, and restocks patient rooms.
- Communications with patients regarding: laboratory results, appointments, and other information as directed by the provider.
- Calls the pharmacy to confirm prescription refills.
- Documents services delivered in a timely, accurate and prescribed manner, in compliance with the MyCare Health Center Assurance Plan.
- Adheres to the Policies and Procedures, standards for service delivery and Code of Ethics established by MyCare Health Center.
- Serves on MyCare Health Center committees, working groups, and other bodies as assigned.
- Upholds the mission of MyCare Health Center by providing integrated, affordable and quality health care to those who need it most.
- Maintains inventory of supplies and assists with ordering supplies.
- Fills in for front desk relief as needed.
- Handles all phone calls in a timely and courteous manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Practice Manager.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Experience and demonstrated ability working in a multi-cultural setting
- Ability to function effectively as part of a professional team delivering healthcare in a community setting
- Ability to organize and prioritize work appropriately.
- Flexibility in days and hours available for scheduled work.
- Must be able to push a patient in a wheelchair
- Working knowledge of Microsoft office application
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5 years experience as a Certified Medical Assistant in a clinical setting
- 1 – 3 years Team Lead experience
- Maintains up to date BLS certification
- Maintains appropriate training and certification to perform FIT Testing renewals.
- Highly organized
