Job Description
The Production Planner / Scheduler is primarily responsible for scheduling and coordinating work and material flow within or between departments. Key tasks are scheduling the work centers based on routings or other capacity tools, maintaining acceptable inventory levels, controlling costs, maximizing customer On Time Delivery deliveries, and to support and lead improvement projects within the logistics organization. This position interacts regularly with employees, management, senior management, internal customers, and suppliers. The level of quality and accuracy displayed in the performance of this job will have an impact on the daily operations of the department and, ultimately, customer satisfaction.

Job Description:
- Use lean principles and tools to improve processes in the entire value stream (supplier to customer).
- Leads improvement efforts in the area of information flow between customer, sales and supplying plants to establish and improve the material supply chain and service level to the customer.
- Uses an ERP system, Macola, to determine items to be ordered and generate production orders.
- Commit sales shipping dates or expedite dates as required
- Develop, establish, and maintain customer and supplier master data in relation to ordering, and shipping material to meet customer demands.
- Analyze and monitor key planning parameters (i.e. order changes, inventory levels, obsolescence, etc.).
- Collaborate with appropriate areas to plan work center capacity requirements based on the order profile (customer requirements) and to schedule and release customer orders into the appropriate work center.
- Support new product introductions (phase-ins/phase-outs) and engineering/revision changes with sales, production team and supplying plant to meet customer requirements while minimizing obsolescence risk.
- Work closely with internal suppliers to solve shortage or short lead time requirements.
- Work closely with Purchasing to solve shortages or short lead time requirements
- Regularly review inventory to identify E&O, surplus, parts in transition, and generate scrapping proposals.
- Perform other essential and related duties as may be assigned.
- Examine documents, materials, or products and monitor work processes to assess completeness, accuracy, and conformance to standards and specifications
- Review documents, such as production schedules, work orders, or staffing tables, to determine personnel or materials requirements or material priorities.
- Confer with department supervisors or other personnel to assess progress and discuss needed schedule changes.
- Record production data, including volume produced, consumption of raw materials, or quality control measures.
- Distribute production schedules or work orders to departments.
- Associates degree in Business management, Supply Chain Management or similar discipline from an accredited school plus 2-5 years in Logistics Management, Supply Chain Management, Capacity Planning, Production planning, Purchasing or similar discipline.
- APICS – CPIM preferred
- Macola or similar ERP system using inventory control methods (i.e., MRP); MS Office familiarity.
- MS Office Suite
- Strong communication skills, written and verbal
