Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Optometric Technician to join our team. As an Optometric Technician, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care and assisting the optometrist in various tasks. This position requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Perform preliminary tests and measurements on patients, including taking vital signs, visual acuity testing, and lensometry
- Assist with patient history taking and documentation of medical records
- Prepare patients for examinations by the optometrist
- Administer diagnostic tests such as tonometry and visual field testing
- Educate patients on contact lens insertion, removal, and care
- Assist with frame selection and dispensing of eyewear
- Handle retail sales transactions and provide exceptional customer service
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of examination rooms and equipment
- Collaborate with the front desk staff to ensure smooth patient flow
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting preferred
- Knowledge of ophthalmology or optometry procedures is a plus
- Familiarity with medical coding and electronic health records systems
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in basic retail math calculations
- Ability to work well in a team environment
