General Summary:
The Associate Director, Congress Operations will provide strategic direction and oversee the development and execution of congress medical booths for multiple disease areas. The Associate Director will be responsible for establishing and implementing the booth execution framework. This role will ensure consistency across disease areas, foster economic stewardship, develop annual metrics reports, implement learnings and best practices for booth planning and execution at Vertex, and stay abreast of industry trends in congress exhibition booths. This role also includes people management responsibilities.

This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.

Job Description

This role will ensure consistency across disease areas, foster economic stewardship, develop annual metrics reports, implement learnings and best practices for booth planning and execution at Vertex, and stay abreast of industry trends in congress exhibition booths. This role also includes people management responsibilities.
Key Duties And Responsibilities
- Oversee the development and execution of medical booths, budget tracking, project management and the team of booth project managers that support each congress
- Works with cross-functional partners across Vertex and within Medical Affairs and leads the development of booth planning processes and templates
- Leads a team of booth project managers
- Works with the Congress Operations Team to ensure consistency in planning approaches across congresses/diseases
- Partners internally to ensure appropriate cross-training for all Congress staff and congress coverage plans
- Manages booth vendor relationships
- Serves as the lead booth project manager for select medical booths
- May take on additional congress planning and execution responsibilities
- Provides training and onboarding duties to new and existing team members
- As a people manager within the organization, may have financial accountabilities and human resource responsibilities for assigned staff
- Experience in medical booth planning and execution
- Experience in people management
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with multiple internal functions and external stakeholders
- Project management experience
- Experience with congress planning and execution
- Bachelor's degree required
- Typically requires 8 years of work experience and 2 years of supervisory/management experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience
