We are seeking a highly organized and analytical Buyer/Planner to join our team in Torrance, CA. In this critical role, you will manage purchasing, production planning, and lead a team of floor personnel to ensure smooth and efficient operations. What You'll Do:
- Develop & Implement Purchasing Strategies: Optimize inventory levels, reduce costs, and improve efficiency.
- Production Scheduling: Create and maintain production schedules to meet customer demand while maximizing operational efficiency.
- Bid-to-Buy Orders & Negotiation: Generate bid-to-buy orders and negotiate pricing with suppliers to ensure cost-effective purchasing.
- Supplier Performance Analysis: Analyze market trends and supplier performance to make informed decisions.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of floor personnel to achieve production goals.
- Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely material delivery.
- ERP System Utilization: Use ERP systems (NetSuite) to track key performance indicators and generate reports.
- Quality Control: Implement quality control measures throughout the production process.
- Supply Chain Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve supply chain issues to minimize disruptions.
- Process Improvement: Continuously seek opportunities to optimize processes and reduce costs.
- Purchase Orders & RFQs: Manage purchase orders and requests for quotes (RFQs).
- BOM Management: Oversee the management of Indented Bill of Materials (BOM) to ensure proper ordering, delivery, and distribution to the shop floor.
- Raw Materials & Subassembly: Release raw materials and subassemblies to the shop floor on time.
- Min/Max Kanban Support: Support the setup of min/max Kanban systems.
What We’re Looking For:
- 5 years of experience in electronics purchasing, planning, or related field.
- 2 years of supervisory experience in an aerospace manufacturing or production environment.
- Proven experience with electronics vendor contract negotiations and managing vendor relations.
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and parts lists for complex electronic parts.
- Experience with Government/DOD-related subcontracts is preferred.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong knowledge of supply chain management and inventory control principles.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team.
- Demonstrated success in implementing process improvements and cost-saving initiatives.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
- APICS CPIM or CSCP certification preferred.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and make quick, informed decisions.
- In-depth understanding of aerospace electronics manufacturing processes and production planning.
