Job description:
Myler & Szczypka, P.C. (M&S) is a full service certified public accounting firm. M&S has two locations - one in Ann Arbor and one in Northville. We have approximately 10-15 employees. It is an exciting time to join our firm as we are growing and changing the way we work to align with the changing work environment. We are looking for someone with management/accounting experience to work full-time.
Responsibilities include:
- Delegating tasks to part-time employees and interns and overseeing their work.
- Assist in tax preparation for businesses and 1040 tax clients.
- Bookkeeping, payroll, and sales tax services for select business clients.
- Assist with or prepare financial statements and other related reports.
- Meet client deadlines.
- Managing staff schedules, partner meetings/communication, and office environment.
- Greet clients warmly and make sure they are comfortable.
- Answer incoming calls and forward to appropriate contact.
- Intake of client tax documents.
- Regularly perform significant and recurring administrative tasks with high degree of initiative and strong attention to detail (i.e. post office, operating office machines, electronic archival etc.).
- Upkeep of the filing systems with minimal supervision.
- Compose correspondence from general instructions or independently on routine matters in a highly professional manner.
- Handle confidential matters and materials promptly and discreetly.
- Monitor conference rooms to insure they are clean and neat after each meeting
- Perform additional duties as requested.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in accounting or business related field is preferred.
- Willingness and ability to learn and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated teaming, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective organization and time management skills with the ability to work under pressure and adhere to project deadlines.
- Integrity within a professional environment.
- Proficiency with MS Office, including MS Excel, MS Word and MS Teams.
- Experience with Thomson Reuters products is a plus.
- A driver's license valid in the U.S.
- Attention to detail, the ability to multi-task, the ability to work independently, and excellent communication skills are required.
