What are the responsibilities and job description for the Diesel Repair Service Advisor position at Myles Truck Repair?
The Myles Truck Repair Heavy Duty Diesel Service Writer / Shop Advisor is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repairs of all customer's trucks and equipment. The primary focus of this role will revolve around the needs of the customers.
The duties related to this position include but are not limited to the following:
- Service Writer duties include tracking repairs and their causes, scheduling technicians, processing warranties, and maintaining accurate, timely updates for each customer's profile within our database.
- Additional duties include preparing cost estimates. When a customer requests a repair, the service writer logs which parts are needed, how much time should be allocated to complete the repairs, and schedules the appropriate technician for the job based on the customer and their repair needs. This information is conveyed to both the customer and the employer of the service writer in a timely fashion.
- Communicates with the sales team to ensure all repairs are transparent with the customers and to ensure a good customer experience when visiting our business.
- Oversees shop parts and inventory, and the needs of the facility with the goal of maintaining work efficiency and minimizing company costs.
- Responsible for leading and assigning tasks to shop mechanics to ensure maximum productivity and minimize asset downtime.
Requirements:
- Must possess a minimum of 2 years of diesel shop / service writing with a strong knowledge base of heavy highway equipment.
- Must have problem-solving skills and good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Must possess strong management skills and be a team player.
