A Brief Overview of the Role
The Outside Sales Representative is a key position at Myrtle Beach Building Supply, responsible for generating and securing new sales to increase the company's profitability.
- Promote and sell new accounts to expand the company's customer base.
- Provide existing customers with necessary products, services, and information to meet their needs.
- Assist in selecting products that best suit customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and communicate price quotations, terms of sales, delivery dates, and service obligations to customers and contractors.
- Resolve customer complaints and issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Collect accounts receivable and coordinate project schedules, contractor schedules, and material deliveries.
- Process orders and maintain accurate records.
- Stay up-to-date on market trends, competitor pricing, and product offerings.
- Maintain knowledge of daily and monthly sales performance and its impact on budget and margin goals.
- Research and procure special products as needed.
- Estimate materials from blueprints supplied by customers or contractors.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 3 years of sales experience in building materials or a related industry required.
- Working knowledge of building materials, negotiation skills, and ability to use calculators and computers.
- Strong strategic thinking, planning, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with others and build partnerships.
- Valid driver's license required.
Travel Requirements:
- 50% travel required.
