Local Presbyterian Church / Part-Time Secretary/Bookkeeper

Pay: $16
Hours: Monday - Friday (About 20-25 Hours / Week)


Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and organized individual to fulfill the role of a Part-Time Secretary/Bookkeeper at our Presbyterian Church in Wichita Falls, TX. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing administrative support and maintaining accurate financial records for the church. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.


Job Duties:

  • Administrative Support:
    • Answer phone calls, respond to inquiries, and provide information to members and visitors.
    • Maintain and update church calendars, schedules, and databases.
    • Prepare and distribute church communications, including newsletters, bulletins, and announcements.
    • Assist with organizing and coordinating church events, meetings, and activities.
    • Handle incoming and outgoing mail, including sorting, distributing, and filing documents.
  • Bookkeeping:
    • Maintain accurate financial records using appropriate accounting software.
    • Manage accounts payable and receivable, including processing invoices, payments, and donations.
    • Reconcile bank statements and financial transactions regularly.
    • Prepare and generate financial reports, statements, and budgets as required.
    • Assist with payroll processing and employee expense reimbursements.
    • Collaborate with the church treasurer and finance committee to ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
  • Record-Keeping and Filing:
    • Maintain organized and up-to-date filing systems for administrative and financial documents.
    • Preserve confidentiality and secure sensitive church and member information.
    • Ensure compliance with legal, tax, and regulatory requirements related to record-keeping and data protection.
  • General Support:
    • Assist pastors, staff, and volunteers with administrative tasks and projects as needed.
    • Provide support during worship services and special church events.
    • Collaborate with other church staff members to enhance overall efficiency and effectiveness.

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or relevant certifications are a plus.
  • Previous experience in administrative support, bookkeeping, or office management is preferred.
  • Familiarity with accounting principles and bookkeeping software (e.g., QuickBooks).
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Canva.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
