What are the responsibilities and job description for the Marketing Manager position at Mystic Aquarium?
JOB SUMMARY: Expand the reach of the aquarium through educational, engaging and creative mediums while managing the marketing operations and logistics as well as individual team members, communication with other departments and overall work flow.
The goal of this role is to lead the Marketing Department in identifying, organizing and managing various projects internal and external in relation to the organization. Projects may range from the management of website and graphics content, internal events, and public relations. This position requires attention to detail and exceptional organization, but also a creative eye and talent for writing. Success in this role will depend on the ability to manage multiple projects at once, with the ability to schedule and streamline needs, while also communicating project status and acting as the medium between internal and external advertising, marketing or public relations related partnerships.
Responsibilities & Essential Functions:

- Lead, manage and direct the Marketing team in collaboration with VP of Marketing team
- Assist with strategic planning, department budgeting and financial tracking
- Manage, assist, monitor, and communicate progress of marketing projects while using PM software
- Serve as the liaison for marketing across the organization, including (but not limited to): advertising collateral; web design and digital marketing; internal and external signage; event displays; sales and marketing support
- Serve as day to day contact with external agencies (Public relations, strategic partners, and production agencies)
- Coordinates with departments to understand their marketing needs and requirements to deliver all needed materials in alignment with their expectations and the institutional brand, marketing strategy and mission objectives
- Assist with the financial component of the department from external invoices to internal expense reports to events budgets, etc.
- Serve as the liaison between the Vice President of External Relations and other departments/agencies to coordinate the production and timely delivery of agreed upon projects.
- Assist in the development of the annual and long-term institutional marketing plan.
- Maintain relationships with and keeps records of preferred vendors and maintains a vendor resource pipeline.
- Collaborate with local community businesses to drive revenue through joint events, cross promotional marketing, etc.
Minimum Job Requirements: Must be willing to consistently provide guest service above and beyond expectation.
- College degree (B.S., B.A., etc.)
- 3 years of professional working experience
- Highly organized with a keen attention to detail
- Excellent in project management and managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills
- Excellent time management
- Consistent, effective and efficient completion of projects, from initial concept to final execution
- Excellent collaboration and team-focused skills
- Willingness to learn
