Medical Assistant

MyTeam seeks to place a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join a Primary Care Clinic team. This role involves a combination of administrative and clinical responsibilities, ensuring smooth clinic operations and enhancing patient care. As a key team member, the Medical Assistant will be the first point of contact for patients, requiring excellent communication skills, professionalism, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent; graduate of a MA program or equivalent
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, clinical procedures, and patient care protocols.
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems and medical office equipment.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to provide compassionate patient interaction.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work efficiently under pressure.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to obtain within six weeks of hire.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Clinical Responsibilities:
- Obtain and document basic patient medical histories and chief complaints.
- Prepare examination rooms and assist providers during patient exams and procedures.
- Measure and record vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, and oxygen saturation by pulse oximeter.
- Reconcile and update medication lists in patient records.
- Administer medications and immunizations as directed by the provider.
- Collect and prepare specimens for laboratory testing.
- Serve as a chaperone during patient exams as needed.
- Provide patient education on medications, treatments, and follow-up care instructions.
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Schedule and coordinate patient appointments, referrals, and follow-ups.
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist Clinic Manager with insurance verification, prior authorizations, and other administrative tasks.
- Ensure examination rooms and medical equipment are clean, stocked, and ready for use.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and staff to optimize clinic workflow and patient experience.
