Assistant Distiller

ROLE SUMMARY:

The Assistant Distiller is responsible to help with daily production including mashes, fermentations, distillations, barreling, proofing, blending and bottling.

Mythology has a core lineup of Whiskey, Gin and Vodka and continues to innovate in each category.

This role reports to the Head Distiller and President.

• Help create new Special Release whiskey, gin and vodka offerings while maintaining consistency for the production of the core Mythology brands.
• Lead Packaging efforts to ensure all products are packaged to meet demand
• Contribute to the production of spirits
• Contribute to the blending of spirits
• Perform sensory evaluations
• Support preparation of outbound products
• Use best practice techniques for cleaning and sanitizing of and equipment, instruments and hoses
• Maintain the cleanliness of the production space and customer facing areas in the production area.
• Act as a resource and brand ambassador to provide brand awareness and education by liaising with consumers, and occasionally distributors.
• Conduct tours and product tastings

What we’re looking for

• 2 years of brewing, distillation or blending experience preferred
• Have a passion for enjoying whiskey, gin and cocktails
• Secured housing in Steamboat Springs, CO or neighboring towns*
• Strong work ethic, positive attitude and willingness to work within a small organization.
• Valid US Driver’s License.
• This is a physical job and you should have the ability to safely lift, pull, roll and hoist 55 lbs. of grain bags, hoses, barrels of liquids on a hand truck, Lifting will possibility be above shoulder level to load grain into mash/lauter tun from a locking staircase accessed by climbing.
• Must be 21 years of age and able to work in hot/cold climate changes, high places, wet/slippery floors, loud noise, fumes, gases, irritating substances, dust, exposure to solvents and chemicals and around mechanical and pressured vessels.
• Work around and with electrical devices, such as motors, pumps, refrigeration equipment and hammer mills.
• Ability to work early or late hours, including some night and weekend shifts as needed. All within the 40 hrs work week.
• Maintain a positive attitude with the ability to communicate clearly and interact positively and professionally with employees and customers.
