Asphalt Plant Laborer

Job Summary

Asphalt Plant Laborer will support daily operations at our asphalt plants. This role involves assisting with plant maintenance, material handling, and general labor tasks to ensure efficient production of hot mix asphalt. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, the ability to perform physical labor in various weather conditions, and a commitment to workplace safety.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Assist with plant operations, including batching hot mix asphalt, monitoring material flow, and communicating with haulers and jobsite personnel.· Perform general labor tasks such as shoveling, sweeping, and cleaning around the plant.· Support the front-end loader operator by maintaining material stockpiles and ensuring proper material feed.· Walk the plant site to identify and address maintenance issues, such as repairing belts, changing motors, and operating hand tools.· Assist in major plant repairs, including welding, torch cutting, and operating small hand-held tools.· Maintain accurate daily reports and ensure compliance with safety procedures.· Work in coordination with the plant operator and loader operator to troubleshoot and resolve equipment malfunctions.· Perform additional duties as assigned.Qualifications:

· Previous experience in asphalt plant operations, construction, or heavy equipment operation (preferred).

· Basic mechanical skills and experience using hand tools.

· Ability to work in a physically demanding environment and perform manual labor.

· Strong attention to safety and detail.

· Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

· CDL Class A (preferred but not required).

· OSHA 10 Certification (preferred).

Physical Requirements:

· Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds sporadically throughout shift.

· Standing, bending, twisting, walking and stooping continuously throughout shift.

· Ability to climb fixed and portable ladders.

Working Conditions:

· Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.

· Exposure to high temperatures, dust, and loud noise.

· Work hours vary and may include extended shifts, night shifts, and occasional weekends.

This role will require the ability to work Night Shift (Approximately 5P-3A)

This role is a full-time position under the Laborers Collective Bargaining Agreement.

All benefits will be under the Laborers Union Welfare and Health Plan.
