N.W. White & Co. is hiring a Dispatcher in our Varnville, South Carolina location that services the greater Beaufort area. This individual coordinates drivers' activities in delivering materials to job sites, customers, and plant sites. The Dispatcher is essential in providing excellent customer services while maintaining State, Federal, and DOT regulations. This position will work with the company dispatching telematic systems to maximize production, delivery efficiency, and services.
Functions, including but not limited to:
- Plans routes and schedules drivers for delivery using company dispatching software.
- Ensures established routes and schedules are maintained.
- Communicates with outside customers for delivery of aggregates and other materials.
- Schedules Sub-contracted trucks to assist in deliveries.
- Reviews and approves schedules and driver clock-in times daily.
- Tracks drivers’ hours of service to ensure DOT compliance.
- Answers routine customer questions concerning delivery, credit, invoicing, and accounts balances.
- Assigns trucks according to availability and requirements.
- Directs the activities of drivers by company radio or other available communication methods.
- During the absence of other dispatch personnel, additional tasks may be required.
- Secondary functions of other duties may be assigned
Qualifications:
- Must be organized and have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to operate professionally in a fast-paced environment.
- Must have a basic knowledge of the trucking industry, including the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
- Must operate computers, telephones, and other necessary office equipment.
- Must be able to communicate with company personnel and customers effectively.
- Must be able to perform mathematical calculations, read maps, schedules, and road signs, and maintain reports.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Must have strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft products (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Capable of learning to navigate various telematics platforms (Samsara, Truckit, NetSuite, UKG Workforce Management).
- Ability to understand, interpret aggregate applications and specifications.
- Ability to read, write, and accurately perform essential mathematical functions including adding, subtracting, multiplication and division.
- Strong independent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Hours for this role would range from 6:00 am to 5:00 pm.
- Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
