Title: Medallion Lab Technician
Location: Golden Valley, MN 55427
Duration: Contract till October 2025 with possibility to extend
Shift: M-F, (7:00AM – 4:00PM)
Job Description:
This position involves potential exposure and contact with common food, environmental and chemical allergens.
The Medallion Lab Technician, as a part of Medallion Laboratory, has accountability to analyze and support all analytical testing needs on a daily basis. This position requires the ability to take direction, and at times work autonomously, to support the daily needs within the Medallion operation.
Responsibilities include:
- Facilitate analytical testing for Medallion
- Provide support and flexibility related to the analysis of samples for Medallion Labs
- Document results and review data
- Investigate any technical discrepancies on a timely basis
- Develop a strong knowledge of the analytical methods being used to analyze samples.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science
Qualifications:
- 1-3 Years of Experience at a Microbiological lab. Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiologic or related field - REQUIRED.
- Knowledge of microbiological plating techniques
- Basic lab skills including aseptic technique, pipetting, and serial dilutions
- Knowledge of laboratory quality systems, statistics, and document control. ISO 17025 experience preferred.
- Ability to manually calculate analytical test results
- Demonstrated ability to work and communicate with people from technical, production, and other backgrounds
- Strong knowledge and background of analytical instrumentation including PCR methods
- Able to coordinate multiple tasks effectively
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; PC skills: proficient with Word, Excel, etc.

- Stand for long period of time on feet
- M-Fr with possible OT and occasional weekend work. Standard hours will be between 7-3 / 8-4
EQUIPMENT:
- Onsite computer technology and access will be provided by GMI for this engagement. No personal/supplier laptop required.
PHYSICAL/OTHER POTENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to wear protective clothing and equipment such as safety shoes, face masks, safety glasses, hearing protection, a hard hat, a hair/beard net and gloves when required.
- Ability to lift, manipulate and transport up to 55 lbs.
- Ability to work in hot/warm/cool conditions within the plant
- Ability to work with care around hazardous compounds/gases
- Ability to climb up and down ladders/stairs and maintain three points of contact
- Must be able to perform physical tasks for extended periods of time including Standing, walking, climbing, bending, pushing, pulling, and twisting over surfaces.
- Willing to use powered lifts (stackers, pallet jacks)
- Willing to work around industrial high-speed moving machinery
- Willing and able to adhere to all safety standards
- Willing and able to adhere to all Good Manufacturing Practices to ensure Food Safety
- This position involves potential exposure to common allergens including but not limited to milk, eggs, fish, shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, soybeans, and sesame.
