About the Chief Strategy Office

The Chief Strategy Office (CSO) leads and oversees the development, communication, and execution of the NAACP’s mission-driven strategies. The CSO is primarily responsible for the alignment and integration of the Association’s goals throughout all levels of the organization. This focus includes various high-impact initiatives, leveraging strategies leading to sustainable growth, a comprehensive policy agenda, and innovation.


About the Development Team

The Development Team consists of three pillars: individual giving, institutional giving, and development operations. The individual and institutional giving teams are comprised of gifts officers focused on frontline fundraising, who oversee a comprehensive moves management process to identify potential donors and steward them through their giving journey with the NAACP. 


About the Corporate Relations Officer, Brand and Culture Engagement

The Corporate Relations Officer, Brand and Culture Engagement will lead the generation and cultivation of unique corporate and other partnerships to support year-round NAACP events including NAACP’s National Convention, NAACP Image Awards, and other activations. The candidate will support a comprehensive strategy to grow the NAACP’s network, presence, and influence, with an emphasis on growing multi-year commitments and deepening 

This role reports to the Vice President, Institutional Giving. The candidate is self-motivated and highly organized, with exceptional attention to accuracy; is flexible with the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously; and has a keen passion for racial equity and social justice and strong alignment with NAACP’s mission and values.


RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

  • Develop and implement fundraising strategies to achieve revenue targets and market share goals;
  • Conduct thorough market research to identify key market segments, trends and opportunities;
  • Develop and implement a sponsorship strategy to meet revenue goals for global event programs;
  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications team to create compelling campaigns, content, and collateral;
  • Identify potential sponsors and develop relationships with key decision-makers; 
  • Create sponsorship packages that align with the needs of each sponsor and event profitability;
  • Negotiate sponsorship agreements and ensure all terms are met; 
  • Coordinate with appropriate teams to ensure all sponsor benefits are fulfilled; 
  • Provide weekly reports on the status of sponsorship revenue; 
  • Generate new business pipelines primarily through prospecting outbound opportunities;
  • Create event-related revenue goals and secure partnerships to off-set expenses;
  • Generate a database of leads and nurture early-stage opportunities;
  • Partner with local affiliates to identify and source new pipeline; 
  • Maintain and update systems and provide weekly fundraising activities (calls, emails, and social outreach);
  • Manage schedule, timelines, logistics invoices, contracts and budgets for partnership, industry, growth and ancillary brand event programs;
  • Manage a portfolio of companies and organizations capable of gifts of up to $1M, including existing and prospective donors, securing renewals, and increasing their support over time; 
  • Provide high-touch stewardship of current donors through stewardship reports, acknowledgement letters, and frequent written communication;
  • Assist with the planning of fundraising and cultivation events geared towards overall fundraising efforts in partnership with Development and Communications staff;
  • Represent NAACP at events and convenings featuring priority donors, partners, and influencers; and
  • Other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS

Educational/Professional Experience

  • 5 to 7 years of experience fundraising at mission-driven nonprofit organizations or in a comparable business development, sales, and/or advocacy environment; 
  • Background in marketing is a plus;
  • Excellent relationship-building skills with diverse stakeholders, including funders, organizational leaders and team members at all levels of the organization;
  • Outstanding written communication skills with experience creating compelling proposals to secure funding;
  • Previous experience with donor databases and/or CRMs, particularly Salesforce; 
  • Capable of multitasking and working in a fast-paced complex environment;
  • Excellent organizational skills;
  • Exhibit a keen attention to detail, including follow-through and follow-up. 
  • Have strong self-confidence but also be a team player;
  • Strong communication, writing, and interpersonal skills required;
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, and the ability to effectively and comfortably build relationships; 
  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment across multiple programs and departments; 
  • Demonstrated ability for handling multiple, complex fundraising relationships simultaneously in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating strategic thinking, problem solving, and attention to detail; 
  • Highly organized, reliable, and able to balance priorities and meet deadlines; 
  • Self-directed, self-aware, and self-disciplined; 
  • Fluency in Salesforce; and 
  • Flexible, energetic, positive, and creative.
