National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) is seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Policy and Grassroots Advocacy to lead the strategy and implementation of our advocacy efforts focused on advancing priority dealer legislation on Capitol Hill. 

This is a full-time position with a healthy work culture, competitive salary, and excellent benefits. Duties require some travel, comprising 5% of the role at times. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and execution of grassroots advocacy strategies to advance NADA’s policy priorities with key Members of Congress.
  • Organize state calls and work with ATAEs and Directors to identify strong existing dealer relationships with Members of Congress and strengthen the Congressional Partner program.
  • Develop understanding of substantive policy rationale for policy issues.
  • Mobilize and guide dealers through grassroots initiatives, creating and distributing targeted advocacy materials such as action alerts and talking points in coordination with Public Affairs.
  • Expand grassroots engagement and program by helping to build congressional relationships especially with congressional leaders or Members of Congress on key committees. 
  • Support the planning and execution of NADA’s annual Washington Conference fly-in and other important meetings with policymakers.
  • Work cross-functionally with NADA departments to advance public policy goals and drive political outreach initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Political Science or related field, or equivalent relevant experience required.
  • Minimum of 7 years of public policy experience, ideally within a trade association or the automobile industry, with a proven track record of increased responsibility and successful advocacy efforts.
  • Strong written communication and dynamic presentation abilities.
  • Expertise in grassroots organizing, lobbying, and building bipartisan relationships on Capitol Hill.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects and deliver results within tight timelines.
  • Analytical mindset with excellent project management skills.
  • Professionalism, discretion, and diplomacy are essential for success in this role.
