Position Objective:

The Peer Recovery Advocate will provide strengths-based guidance and substance use recovery support to clients. The Peer Recovery Advocate will help clients resolve barriers to achieving goals using their current strengths and support staff work to improve client wellness. The Peer Recovery Advocate will work with clients on site and in the community connecting them to preemployment resources and other services that support recovery.

Essential Functions:

  • Facilitate recovery-oriented groups and organize social activities on site and in the community.
  • Participate in outreach to clients at risk for relapse.
  • Promote self-advocacy and identify community resources that support clients' goals and interests.
  • Support outreach efforts for client enrollment, leverage established partnerships with treatment and recovery related organization to generate new referrals to WDI.
  • Provide copies of promotional materials and referral forms, and conduct presentations on our services as needed.
  • Work with interdisciplinary team to create the Relapse Prevention Plan and support client’s recovery. Attend team meetings and collaborate with staff members to ensure client needs are met.
  • Assist clients to identify goals, strengths, and personal interests helpful in recovery.
  • Escort clients to appointments, self-help groups or to resources in the community.
  • Utilize resources to help clients stop using substances or reduce the risk associated with addictive behaviors.
  • Recruit and screen clients for program eligibility and enrollment. Review all I9 documentation for accuracy. Clients should be assessed for job readiness and scheduled to return for intake with VCM they meet criteria.
  • Responsible for preparing and distributing weekly email campaign to promote WDI services to potential referral partners.
  • Review incoming emails and phone calls to ensure that all potential referrals are captured. This position requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and thorough follow-up. Coordinate with other WDI team members in various capacities including active participation in weekly meetings to discuss client progress, assist Job Developers and Retention Specialist to communicate with clients as needed.
  • Attend and participate in meetings, staff development sessions and in-service training as assigned.
  • Maintain and execute documentation and workflow through computer-based programs and technology that draws on basic software/computer skill set.
  • May be assigned other tasks and duties reasonably related to their job responsibilities. Performs other duties as assigned.

Educational Requirements:

High School Diploma required.

Recovery Peer Advocate Certification is required with at least one year of Peer Advocate experience.

Skills and/or Experience Required:

  • Working in an automated on-line system, demonstrates proficiency in use of applied information technology and on-line database systems; demonstrated keyboarding speed proficiency and accuracy preferred for a paperless case management system.
  • Some prior professional experience working within a community-based organization or the government sector, directly serving an under-resourced population required.
  • Experience working in employment services or in social service-related field preferred.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and to travel to various locations to carry out assigned duties.
  • Effective problem solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
  • Basic computer software literacy and computer usage experience.

Salary: $45,000-$50,000 plus $3,000 sign-on bonus
