Our team is small but mighty, and we’re looking for an enthusiastic and experienced floral designer to join our team and help us bring beauty and joy to every floral arrangement we create.

Job Description: We are seeking a talented, experienced Floral Designer to become an integral part of our team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of floral design, an eye for detail, and a passion for working with customers to bring their floral visions to life. You will be responsible for creating custom arrangements, managing day-to-day shop operations, and working closely with clients to understand their floral needs.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Execute unique and innovative floral designs for various events, including weddings, corporate events, and daily floral arrangements.
  • Assist with flower selection, including sourcing and managing inventory.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, handling inquiries, feedback, and any concerns professionally.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the shop, including arranging flowers and ensuring workspace efficiency.
  • Work with the team to prepare for large events, including coordinating delivery and setup.
  • Manage daily flower sales and order processing.
  • Maintain relationships with suppliers and assist with inventory management.
  • Work closely with event planners, decorators, and other staff to coordinate floral designs with overall event themes and layouts.
  • Help with marketing and social media posts. Participate in social media content creation by capturing photos of arrangements and events when needed.
  • Stay up to date with floral design trends and techniques, and actively participate in training and development opportunities.
  • Attend weekly team check-in meetings
  • Flexible with schedule tasks (doing event transfer, end of event breakdown (if necessary)

Physical Requirements:

These requirements ensure that floral designers can perform the tasks effectively, without compromising their health or the quality of their work.

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25-50 pounds: Floral designers often need to move heavy floral arrangements, buckets of flowers, and other supplies.
  • Ladders: Must be comfortable being on ladders of various heights.
  • Standing for extended periods: Designers frequently stand for long periods while creating arrangements, setting up for events, or managing the shop.
  • Frequent bending and kneeling: A lot of the work involves bending, kneeling, or squatting to arrange flowers at different heights or to prepare floral designs on the floor or low surfaces.
  • Manual dexterity: Floral designers must have the ability to use hand tools such as scissors, knives, wire cutters, and floral foam efficiently and safely.
  • Good hand-eye coordination: Precision is important for cutting stems, arranging flowers, and handling delicate materials.
  • Repetitive tasks: Ability to perform repetitive motions such as cutting, arranging, and wiring flowers without discomfort or strain.
  • Vision and color perception: Floral designers need to be able to distinguish between colors, textures, and details accurately to create aesthetically pleasing designs.
  • Physical stamina: Depending on the workload, designers may need to work long hours, especially during busy wedding or holiday seasons, requiring stamina and endurance.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a floral designer, with at least 1-2 years of professional experience
  • Expertise in floral design techniques, including advanced knowledge of floral arrangement styles, color theory, and plant care.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Creativity and attention to detail.
  • A degree or certification in floral design or related fields is a plus.
  • Knowledge of current floral trends and ability to innovate and adapt designs accordingly.
  • Social media skills for showcasing floral designs (Instagram, Pinterest, etc.).
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed for events and peak seasons.
  • Drivers license and ability to drive company car / own vehicle to event locations

Schedule & Direct Reporting:

This is a part-time position with possible full-time hours during our busy season. Actual schedule and hours will vary based on volume and overall business demand. This position must report in-person to our floral studio in Seward Park and to all designated event venues throughout the Greater Seattle area. This position directly reports to the Lead Floral Designer & Studio Operations Manager.
