Job Description: We are seeking a creative, detail-oriented, and highly organized Assistant Floral Designer to support our lead designer in crafting beautiful floral arrangements and assisting with day-to-day operations. This position is perfect for someone who is eager to learn, grow, and contribute to a small, tight-knit team. You’ll gain hands-on experience in both design and customer service while helping to bring our clients’ floral visions to life.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design and preparation of floral arrangements for weddings and events
  • Help with flower selection, cutting, conditioning, and arranging flowers according to the lead designer’s specifications.
  • Organize and maintain floral inventory and supplies.
  • Assist with the creation of event décor, including floral centerpieces, bouquets, and installations.
  • Help with packaging, delivery, and setup for weddings and events.
  • Maintain cleanliness and order in the shop, ensuring all tools and materials are organized and properly cared for.
  • Communicate with clients and assist in bringing their floral requests and ideas to life.
  • Assist in store displays and general shop upkeep.
  • Attend weekly team check-in meetings
  • Participate in social media content creation by capturing photos of arrangements and events when needed.
  • Stay up to date with floral design trends and techniques, and actively participate in training and development opportunities.

Physical Requirements:

These requirements ensure that floral designers can perform the tasks effectively, without compromising their health or the quality of their work.

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25-50 pounds: Floral designers often need to move heavy floral arrangements, buckets of flowers, and other supplies.
  • Ladders: Must be comfortable being on ladders of various heights.
  • Standing for extended periods: Designers frequently stand for long periods while creating arrangements, setting up for events, or managing the shop.
  • Frequent bending and kneeling: A lot of the work involves bending, kneeling, or squatting to arrange flowers at different heights or to prepare floral designs on the floor or low surfaces.
  • Manual dexterity: Floral designers must have the ability to use hand tools such as scissors, knives, wire cutters, and floral foam efficiently and safely.
  • Good hand-eye coordination: Precision is important for cutting stems, arranging flowers, and handling delicate materials.
  • Repetitive tasks: Ability to perform repetitive motions such as cutting, arranging, and wiring flowers without discomfort or strain.
  • Vision and color perception: Floral designers need to be able to distinguish between colors, textures, and details accurately to create aesthetically pleasing designs.
  • Physical stamina: Depending on the workload, designers may need to work long hours, especially during busy wedding or holiday seasons, requiring stamina and endurance.

Qualifications:

  • A strong interest in floral design with some hands-on experience.
  • Previous experience working with flowers or in a floral environment is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of floral care, techniques, and tools.
  • Creative and artistic with a good eye for color, balance, and design.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a small team.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines, especially during busy seasons
  • Strong communication skills and a positive attitude.
  • Social media skills for showcasing floral designs (Instagram, Pinterest, etc.).
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, especially during peak seasons and events.
  • Drivers license and ability to drive company car / own vehicle to event locations

Specifications:

This is a part-time position starting at 15 hours per week with possible full-time hours during our busy season. Actual schedule and hours will vary based on volume and overall business demand. This position must report in-person to our floral studio in Seward Park and to all designated event venues throughout the Greater Seattle area. This position directly reports to the Lead Floral Designer & Studio Operations Manager.
