Job Summary
The College of St. Scholastica is seeking a Director of the Office of International Programs to oversee the College’s compliance with Department of Homeland Security regulations. The Director will serve as the PDSO, and ensure that F-1 regulations are met across all CSS departments. In addition, the Director is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Office of International Programs.
This is a 12 month/year position with full benefits.
Education And Experience
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:
- Master's degree in International Studies/Student Personnel/other related fields and a minimum of 2 years of experience in an international programs office related to education- including a minimum of 1 year as a DSO.
- A bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years of experience as a PDSO.
- Equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Must be eligible to become a PDSO.
- Experience working one-on-one with ESL speakers.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact effectively with diverse student populations.
- Flexible work and time management skills.
- Excellent written and oral skills.
- Ability to oversee multiple tasks at once and prioritize independently.
- Fluency in a second language. (preferred)
- Serve as the PDSO, overseeing and confirming institutional compliance with immigration regulations as they pertain to F-1 students and applications so the College maintains a valid program as is pursuant to the role of PDSO.
- Serve as chair of the International Committee.
- Maintain updates to CSS’s I-17.
- Coordinate systems to comprehensively support international students and their dependents to affect successful adjustment campus-wide.
- Coordinate systems to comprehensively support returning international students as they move to graduation and/or into OPT or US-based work programs.
- Advocate for international students to ensure campus policies and processes reflect their needs and experiences.
- Manage social and informational programming to serve international students and the campus community.
- Educate the campus community on ways to foster an educational and work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds and those on an F-1 visa.
- Evaluate St. Scholastica's international program to meet the College's strategic plan and to comply with government requirements.
- Manage the Office of International Programs.
- Manage OIP budget lines/p-cards.
- Oversee OIP staff.
- Serve on campus-wide committees.
- Implement and oversee the processes to ensure consistent, accurate maintenance of SEVIS profiles.
- Ensure accurate processing of employment/reduced course load authorizations and transfer functions in SEVIS.
- Use institutional, regional, and national data to help guide and advise enrollment strategies.
- Work across departments to maximize comprehensive internationalization within the context of the Benedictine values.
