The Office of Global Engagement is seeking a dedicated International Student Advisor to join our team. This exciting opportunity is ideal for a new or experienced professional who is passionate about supporting international students through admissions, orientation, campus programming, and ensuring compliance with immigration regulations.
Responsibilities Include
- Serve as a Designated School Official (DSO): Ensure institutional compliance with federal regulations and maintain student and campus records through the Student Exchange and Visitor Information System (SEVIS).
- Admissions Liaison: Collaborate with the graduate school and undergraduate admissions offices to review international applications.
- Primary Contact for Support Services: Coordinate with campus departments to provide updates and ongoing support to international students.
- Orientation Planning: Plan and execute International Student Orientation each semester.
- Campus Programming Assistance: Support major campus events such as International Education Week and International Festival.
- International Student Programming: Serve as the staff advisor for the International Peer Advisor and Liaison (I-PALs) buddy program.
- Website and Recruitment Materials Development: Enhance the ISSS section of the WCU Global website and create promotional materials for international student recruitment.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- U.S. permanent resident or citizen status to qualify as a Designated School Official (DSO) and Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, demonstrated by the ability to create and edit documents and spreadsheets.
- Experience in managing social media accounts for professional purposes, including content creation and engagement metrics.
- Strong writing skills, evidenced by the ability to produce clear and concise written communication.
- Experience working with diverse cultural groups, demonstrated through previous roles or projects.
- Proven organizational skills, as shown by the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, as evidenced by previous team-based projects or roles.
- Masters degree in a related field.
- 1-2 years of experience working in a higher education setting.
- Experience studying or working abroad.
- Proficiency in a second language.
