Reporting to the assistant director for intercultural programs and initiatives, the senior program coordinator manages the International Student and Scholars Services (ISSS) activities that support and enrich the on-campus experiences for the international student and scholar community. The senior program coordinator is responsible for monitoring the ISSS communication plan, including emails, social media, and program marketing.
Responsibilities
Orientation and Intercultural Programming - Oversee ISSS orientation and collaborate closely with college/school and departmental orientations specific to international students. Manage pre-orientation programming and communications. Work collaboratively with ISSS units to develop and lead programming to support international students’ and scholars’ cross- cultural adaptation, sense of belonging, and family/dependent well-being. Programming may include but is not limited to first-year student initiatives, skill-building workshops, service-learning projects, and networking events. Conduct analyses and learning outcome assessments that result in evaluation, improvements, and streamlining of existing offerings and the creation of new initiatives. Manage orientation and program budgets. Supervise student workers, including a graduate assistant, to support orientation and intercultural programming.
Communication - Collaborating with Texas Global’s Marketing and Communications team, develop and implement a communication plan for ISSS, ensuring timeliness and consistency across platforms, including email, social media, webpages, and print. Manage promotion and marketing for ISSS programs, events, and services for international students and scholars through various channels. Oversee communication materials, which may include content for blogs, events, reports, briefings, newsletters, or other written information. Review and edit communication from ISSS team members to ensure consistency and quality in accordance with the Texas Global brand.
Campus Outreach and Collaboration - Collaborate with campus units to assess, enhance, and develop support services focused on the needs of international students and scholars concerning their personal, social, academic, and professional adjustment to life in the United States. Represent ISSS at university committee meetings, events, and organizations. Serve as ISSS liaison to student government and student organizations to cultivate a strong international community.
Support of ISSS and Texas Global Functions - Actively support the critical priorities and functions of ISSS and Texas Global. Regularly attend and actively contribute to ISSS programs and events for the international community. Attend staff meetings and serve on internal work groups to support the organization's mission.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and five years of progressively responsible professional experience or master’s degree with three years of experience. Superior communication, writing, and editing abilities with a strong attention to detail and accuracy. Experience developing, planning, and implementing student-focused programming, exhibiting strong project management skills. Experience using social media to promote programming and services. Commitment to programming and communication that support the international student and scholar community. Demonstrated ability to implement creative solutions and take initiative while working as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Proven capability to multi-task and keep projects well-organized and on deadline. Strong computer and technological proficiency. Equivalent combination or substitution of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in international education, higher education administration, student affairs, or similar field. Advanced knowledge of and demonstrated active engagement in the field of international education. Direct experience working with international students and scholars in a university setting. Demonstrated experience creating and using a communication plan to promote activities and objectives effectively.
Salary Range
$58,000
