Sales Manager – Functional Materials

Location: Remote

Position Overview:


Nagase America LLC is seeking a Sales Manager – Functional Materials to lead and develop a high-performing, customer-focused sales team while managing strategic accounts within the NSM selling geography. Reporting to the Vice President of Functional Materials, this role combines leadership responsibilities with account management, ensuring the achievement of sales, gross profit, and product mix goals.


Key Responsibilities:


Sales Management:

· Build, coach, and mentor a customer-focused sales team.

· Develop and implement annual sales plans for account managers, including strategies for meeting revenue, margin, and product mix goals.

· Maintain a robust opportunity pipeline and ensure timely updates in the CRM system.

· Organize commercial and product training sessions for the sales team.

· Conduct sales meetings and performance reviews with account managers.

· Oversee variance reporting, pricing adjustments, and account-specific strategies.


Team Coordination and Collaboration:

· Coordinate training, development, and professional growth plans for account managers.

· Collaborate with internal departments to ensure customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.

· Work closely with customer service to resolve discrepancies and deliver best-in-class service.

· Partner with supply chain and pricing analysts to manage forecasts and special pricing.


Strategic Account Management:

· Manage sales for select strategic accounts, ensuring the achievement of fiscal year targets.

· Develop growth plans for accounts, focusing on market share expansion and new business opportunities.

· Maintain detailed and timely call reports to capture account insights and market intelligence.

· Conduct joint sales calls and supplier meetings as needed.


Performance Monitoring and Reporting:

· Review sales activities and monthly reports to track progress toward goals.

· Work with HR to address employee issues and oversee performance appraisals.

· Manage quarterly account manager bonus plans in line with company profitability goals.


Qualifications:


· Bachelor's degree in chemistry, business, or equivalent experience (preferred).

· Minimum of 5 years’ experience in sales, management, or a technical role, ideally in the chemical industry.

· Strong understanding of Functional Materials/Performance Chemicals, market dynamics, and key players.

· Proven leadership skills, with experience coaching and mentoring teams.

· Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.

· Proficiency in CRM systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and project management tools.

· Familiarity with international trade principles is a plus.


Additional Requirements:


· Valid driver’s license and U.S. passport for domestic and occasional international travel.

· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to change.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

· Primarily office-based, with regular customer and site visits.

· Occasionally required to lift and move office supplies up to 10 pounds.

· Full-time role with standard business hours, with occasional early mornings, evenings, or weekends as needed.
