Role

The Group Leader of the Materials and Vessels Engineering group leads a team providing technical expertise for materials, ASME code pressure vessels, and API code tanks for capital projects and plant support. They align team activities with corporate priorities, oversee department and division improvement initiatives, and play a key role in recruiting, hiring, and developing talent.

Responsibilities

Partner Liaison

• Provide central point for customer/partner interface with the group
• Interface with other engineering functions and contractor organizations
• Maintain awareness of and alignment with capital and manufacturing plant priorities
• Continually position the group to meet partner needs
  
  

Supervisory And Managerial Responsibilities

• Provide ongoing coaching, development, and address personnel issues promptly
• Understand, develop, and leverage each group member’s strengths while managing workload and staffing levels
• Manage group controllable expenditures and communicate relevant information to group members
• Develop strategic vision and provide leadership for key department and division initiatives
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or materials engineering
• 7 years of experience in mechanical engineering with a focus on the chemical industry preferred.
• Working knowledge and experience of ASME, API, and ANSI Codes.
• Working knowledge and experience in pressure vessel design processes and software (PV Elite, Ansys, Solidworks).
• Knowledge of material of construction science and (NDE) non-destructive examination techniques.
• Familiarity with the capital stage gate process and an understanding of project execution.
• Extensive work experience partnering with external vendors and suppliers.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and standards related to mechanical engineering in the chemical industry.
