We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Shop Foreman to oversee daily operations in our fabrication shop.
Position Overview:
The Heavy Steel Fabrication Shop Foreman will play a critical role in managing the workflow, ensuring quality standards, and supervising a team of skilled fabricators and welders. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with press brakes, plate rolls, CNC plasma cutting, welding, and steel fabrication processes. This individual must be highly organized, safety-conscious, and capable of leading a team to meet production goals efficiently.
Supervision & Leadership:
- Lead the fabrication team to ensure productivity and quality standards are met.
- Train and mentor employees on equipment operation, safety protocols, and best practices.
- Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork and collaboration.
- Oversee the operation of press brakes, plate rolls, CNC plasma cutters, welding equipment, and other fabrication tools.
- Monitor workflow to ensure efficient use of resources and minimize downtime.
- **Quality Control**:
- Ensure all fabricated products meet design specifications and quality standards.
- **Safety & Compliance**:
- Enforce safety regulations and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
- Ensure all equipment is properly maintained and operated according to manufacturer guidelines.
Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate records of production schedules, inventory levels, and employee performance.
- Collaborate with management on project updates, resource needs, and operational improvements.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in heavy steel fabrication with expertise in press brakes, plate rolls, CNC plasma cutting, welding techniques, and general steel fabrication processes.
- Will be required to pass 1g weld test.
- Familiar with D1.1 welding code.
- Previous leadership or foreman experience in a fabrication shop setting is required.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask.
- Knowledge of blueprints, technical drawings, and fabrication specifications.
- Excellent communication skills for team coordination.
- Commitment to safety standards and attention to detail in all aspects of production.
- Familiarity with CAD/CAM software for CNC programming is a plus.
- Experience with inventory management systems or ERP software is desirable.
