What you will do
- Monitor and support the implementation of compliance programs, including policies and practices as they relate to affordability requirements
- Ensure that the property conducts rental/leasing activity in compliance with all regulatory requirements
- Review all applications for tax credit apartments to confirm they comply with the LURA, CHFA, and other regulatory requirements
- Work with applicants to provide the necessary documentation
- Perform on-site property file audits and populate regulatory reports as necessary
- Review lease files for compliance and accuracy (implementing the attachment of documents in Yardi)
- Provide ongoing guidance and training to all Community staff as dictated by the Community Manager to ensure the accuracy of property operation files
- Ensure annual certifications and provide documentation to HUD as requested
- Maintain up to date compliance certifications as required
- Continuing education by attending training seminars with outside sources - act as a compliance representative to the industry at large in a highly professional manner
- Interface with CHFA in relation to all compliance requirements
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in tax credit and subsidized housing or affordable property management
- Leasing experience
- An understanding of landlord/tenant and fair housing laws. knowledge of Federal, State and local laws pertaining to tax credit and subsidized housing
- Technical knowledge of Occupancy Requirement of Subsidized Multifamily Housing (HUD 4350.3), Low-income Housing Credits (LIHTC), and HOME rules and regulations
- Ability to deal with residents, prospects, and vendors in a professional manner
- Possess demonstrable and verifiable skills associated with sales, clerical, supervisory, human relations, and bookkeeping
- Be competent with Microsoft Office, Yardi and basic computer knowledge
- Possess good telephone/communication skills
- A positive and upbeat attitude, integrity, a willingness to learn, and be service oriented
- Lifting no more than 25 pounds. If more than 25 pounds are to be lifted, employee shall seek assistance from the maintenance department
