What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dining Room Manager position at Nana's of Rockwood?
Nanas is an upscale neighborhood restaurant in the heart of Rockwood in Durham. We are looking for a passionate hospitality professional to join our management team. We are currently open for dinner service Tuesday through Saturday. We are looking for someone to lead the team, build relationships, and develop guest experiences. Leadership and desire to mentor are key assets we are looking for in a candidate. A detailed service culture and beverage knowledge are key for this position. We are looking for someone who can lead by example, has a strong work ethic and is confident making key decisions. The right candidate will be the face of the restaurant, developing relationships and engaging with guests during service. This candidate will need strong communication skills, to lead under pressure, and possess on the fly decision-making ability along with long term business decision making skills. Two years of management experience is a requirement, preferably in an upscale dining environment.
Duties include:
Staff Development:
- Work with the ownership and management team to coordinate and execute hiring for all positions
- Implement training plans, distribute all training materials, and oversee the training processes
- Build, maintain and execute line up with necessary content
- Track FOH staff performance through item sales, category sales, and overall revenue guide for individual and team improvement
- Work closely with our management team in staff training and inventory
- Communicate with Office Manager and Director of Operations on payroll, and human resources
- Aid in coordination of dinners and events with the Bar Manager and Wine Director
Service:
- Embody and uphold all standards of service
- Be able to lead and fulfill any front-of-the-house position throughout the course of service to ensure the success of the restaurant as a whole
- Actively coach and support front of the house team
- Oversight and execution of daily operations
- Handle all guest and team member concerns
- Act as a liaison between the kitchen, service team, and guests in order to anticipate problems and proactively find solutions
- Be a constant presence on the floor to ensure guest satisfaction and the prompt resolution of complaints. Engage guests to ensure their happiness and deliver a great experience.
- Build relationships with guests
- Lead in ongoing dialogue with the management team to analyze and improve the experience for the team and our guests
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Overseeing monthly beverage inventory, sales, labor costs. Working with the kitchen team on food costs.
- Closing duties; Server checkout, facility safety and cleanliness, proper sales accounting
- Write weekly FOH schedule and manage time-off requests
- Timely, appropriately, and thorough nightly manager log entries
- Work with private dining needs, execute private events, coordinate needs of private events
Weekly Commitment:
The expectation of workload per week is a minimum of 40 hours. The management schedule is to be written on a weekly basis by the GM.
Salary:
Salary is dependent on experience, and will also include a monthly stipend for health insurance and a robust bonus plan.
