Position Summary
Nanotech is looking for a skilled Purchasing Agent to administer product procurement processes for our company. In this position, you are responsible for researching new products, meeting with vendors, and submitting purchase orders. You ensure invoicing goes through proper channels to assure compliance with our vendor contracts, oversee inventory control and vendor management, and when inventory is low, you are responsible for expediting shipments from our vendors. The goal is to acquire supplies that are critical for the success of our business operations. This position requires working with chemicals and the candidate needs to be able to maintain compliance with various safety regulations, such as wearing proper PPE. The successful candidate is a self-starter and can thrive in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities and Duties
· Manage relationships with key suppliers to maintain quality of goods, timely delivery and compliance with terms of contracts.
· Prepare and submit detailed reports (revenues, buying expenditures etc.).
· Research products and compare prices from various vendors.
· Track current inventory and order new shipments when necessary.
· Authorize payments and forward invoices through accounts payable.
· Track all purchases, shipments, and invoices.
· Order products based on forecasts of sales trends.
· Evaluate offers from vendors and negotiate better prices.
· Liaise with warehouse staff to ensure all products arrive in good condition.
· Understands and contributes to the EHS policies.
· Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field preferred.
· Strong sales forecasting and vendor relations skills.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Advanced knowledge of MS Excel) and purchasing software.
· 1-3 years of experience in a purchasing role.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Outstanding organizational skills.
· Able to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Demands
· Although primary will be in an office setting, on occasions the employee may be exposed to moderately loud environments from machinery and manufacturing processes, use of proper PPE may be assigned and worn.
· Individual should be able to sit or stand and operate a workstation.
· Ability to walk/travel within the facilities for inspection activities.
· On occasions the employee may need to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
