JOB SUMMARY
The River Manager is responsible for positive guest interactions / experiences, key communication and administrative / logistic duties for the river operation including : planning, accounting, logistics, budgeting, staff management, hiring, culture, training and many other functions described in detail below.
This position is classified as a 9 / 12 role . That means that the job operates from February to the end of October each year. You will be put on organizational leave from November to early February.
Responsibilities
Administrative / Logistic duties to include
- Long term planning and vision for the river operation.
- Budgeting – request, review and oversee approved budgets and closely track revenue as well as being fully accountable for all expenses / labor as requested by the GM.
- Help to determine price setting with sales for larger discount groups when requested.
- Become intimately familiar with Concessionaire Agreement and Commercial Use Authorization permit to ensure compliance. He / she must be familiar with safety requirements / plans, reporting and regulations of the National Park Service, CMV, OSHA and other governing agencies and regulatory bodies. The River Manager will oversee compliance with all aspects of NOC’s river permits and regulations by various governing agencies.
- Oversee all aspects of the daily guide / trip schedule.
- In cooperation with the Sales Director, the River Manager must adjust trip times and trip maximums as well as open or close trips in accordance with resource availability and booking needs so as to ensure adequate resources for bookings daily, weekly and throughout the season.
- Responsible for ordering, purchasing and maintenance of facilities, equipment and supplies necessary for operations.
- Collaborate with partners inside and outside the organization to develop experiences that will serve the niche markets of the surrounding communities.
