What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teen Coordinator position at Nantucket Boys & Girls Club?
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
To create, plan, implement, lead, and evaluate activities and opportunities provided within the Teen Program, including but not limited to recreation, athletics, after school and evening programs, field trips, cooking, music, the arts, and education.
KEY ROLES
- Create, promote and implement new programs within the Nantucket Boys & Girls Club member’s interests and utilize Boys & Girls Clubs of America available programs.
- Evaluate and assess programs with an eye toward improvement and diversification.
- Collaborate with other organizations.
- Any other duties assigned by the Program Director and/or the Executive Director.
- Plan activities to heighten teen (13-18yrs of age) interest and participation.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
To maintain a high energy level and an ability to remain comfortable with performing multi-faceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities; superior interpersonal skills; an ability to get along with diverse personalities, to be tactful, mature, and flexible, and to exercise good reasoning abilities and sound judgment; excellent oral and written communication skills; coordinate, utilize, and supervise volunteers. The Teen Program Coordinator will maintain close, daily contact with staff, parents and members to receive and provide information, discuss issues, and adhere to guidelines and policies. He or she will work closely with schools and other organizations to support intellectual, physical, and emotional development.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
- BA in Education or related academic achievement
- Minimum four years experience in related field
- Knowledge of youth development
- Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems
- Ability to deal with general public
- Ability to supervise members in a safe environment
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
Physical Requirements:
The Teen Coordinator may deliver programs in a variety of locations and may have to transport, lift and carry equipment and supplies. The Teen Coordinator will have to spend long hours standing and may also be involved in a number of high energy activities.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to continuously stand or walk.
- Ability to bend, squat, climb stairs and lift frequently
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Ability to be outdoors during all seasons
Important Notes:
Must be available to work until 8:00pm and on weekends, including teen nights. You must be flexible as determined by the needs of the program.
Limited housing available for right candidate.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $21.00 - $27.00 per hour
