NHS English Language Arts and Literacy Teacher (1.0) REPORTS TO: Building Principal TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: School Year Contract Job Summary: Nantucket High School has an opening for [1] English Teacher (ELA) to join our caring and innovative community for the 2025-2026 school year. Our ideal candidate is committed to differentiating instruction, keeping student voice at the center of instruction, and developing a classroom learning environment centered on inquiry. You will be an integral part of our departmental team as we create challenging and inspiring teaching and learning experiences for all students. Minimum Requirements: •Knowledge of Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks (English Language Arts and Literacy) •Bachelor’s Degree •DESE MA certification or the ability to be certified in English (5-12) Ideal Candidate: •Experience in high school English language arts and literacy teaching •Passion for teaching English language arts and literacy •Strong English language arts and literacy content knowledge •Strong knowledge of the ELA portrait of student’s capacities •Knowledge of High School pedagogy and the developmental needs of students •Ability to assess learning using a variety of methods •Strong foundation in student-centered and culturally responsive pedagogy •Knowledge of differentiated instruction and response to intervention •Excellent classroom management skills •SEI Endorsement •Ability to collaborate with teachers and administrators •Willingness to support after school activities

Salary : $77,425 - $130,688
