Job Summary – Territory Sales Manager
The Territory Sales Manager (TSM) maximizes sales by developing sales and service plans that effectively change customer buying habits, helping customers select and purchase merchandise and equipment, while following all company standards, policies and procedures. TSM partners with Store Team and Regional Vice President to implement all corporate and store programs, practices and policies. TSM expands sales territory by making cold calls in traditional and niche markets on a consistent basis. Develops and presents sales proposals to new and existing customers to highlight the benefits and advantages of doing business with NAPA/MPEC.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a sales growth strategy in a defined geographic area
- Identify highest potential targets and create a business plan to gain market share
- Report performance opportunities and risk to management and other organizational peers and leaders
- Call on existing and/or prospective accounts to increase sales opportunities
- Work proactively to identify sales and profit growth opportunities through both existing and prospective customers
- Perform customer needs analyses and develop key account strategies
- Participate in sales team activities and objectives
- Promote company programs, products and sales initiatives
- Create and maintain a positive, professional relationships with store team
- Meet or exceed sales quota in existing accounts sales territory
- Complete daily sales call reports, mid-month and monthly gross profit reports along with monthly customer incentive reports
- Refer bids/quotes to appropriate company resources
- Review pricing profiles and recommend strategic pricing adjustments due to competitive pressures which will maximize sales and profits
- Communicate with the store team on all service and opportunity issues
- Develop stocking dealers and promote electronic connectivity( Napa Access/Prolink)
- Utilize Napa SalesPro program to maintain up-to-date dealer stocking levels
- Understand and promote Napa AutoCare, Blueprint, NAPAOne and other MPEC incentives
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of Automotive Aftermarket is required
- Experience in selling in a fast paced, retail/wholesale environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office specifically PowerPoint, Excel and Word
- Must be a motivated and self-starting individual, willing to learn new skills and gain knowledge
- Demonstrated sales techniques, excellent customer service, efficient time management and strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
- Ability to travel regionally on a regular basis
- Must have a clean driving record
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree, with a focus in Business or Marketing
- Minimum of 3 years automotive sales experience in automotive aftermarket
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift and move merchandise of up to 40 poundsand occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
- Move engine blocks, core barrels, and other heavy equipment using moving aids designed to move such items, including hand trucks, barrel dollies, hydraulic lifts
- Bend or stoop to floor-level shelves and reach upper shelves with use of stool or ladder when necessary
