Naperville Youth Symphony Orchestra - Executive Director
The Naperville Youth Symphony Orchestra is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to fill the role of Executive Director. This part-time position focuses on leading the organization's efforts in recruiting talented young musicians and supporting the overall growth and success of the symphony. The Executive Director will play a vital role in shaping the future of our organization and provide exceptional musical opportunities for the youth of Naperville and surrounding communities. This is a part-time position with a salary of $10,000 per year, plus the opportunity for bonus compensation based on performance.
Responsibilities:
Recruitment Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive recruitment strategy to attract talented young musicians to join the Naperville Youth Symphony Orchestra.
Outreach and Networking: Establish and maintain relationships with local schools, music teachers, youth organizations, and community groups to promote the symphony and recruit potential members.
Auditions and Selection: Oversee the scheduling of auditions,and the communication of results.
Program Development: Collaborate with the artistic director and board of directors to develop and enhance the organization’s programs and offerings, ensuring a diverse and engaging musical experience for the youth.
Budget and Finance: Work closely with the board of directors to assist in developing and managing the annual budget, monitoring expenses, and identifying opportunities for revenue growth and cost optimization.
Fundraising and Grants: Support fundraising efforts by assisting in grant applications, donor cultivation, and sponsorship acquisition to secure necessary funding for the symphony's activities.
Community Engagement: Act as a representative of the Naperville Youth Symphony in the community, attending events, fostering partnerships, and advocating for the organization's mission and goals.
Board Liaison: Collaborate with the board of directors, providing regular updates on recruitment efforts, program development, financials, and other pertinent matters.
Staff and Volunteer Management: Oversee and support staff and volunteers involved in recruitment and other organizational activities, ensuring effective communication and coordination.
Operations and Logistics: Maintain database and orchestra calendar, assist with securing venues, coordinate rehearsal and event logistics, and act as point of contact for parents, orchestra members, board and community.
Qualifications:
● Bachelor's degree in music, arts administration, or a related field (preferred)
● Proven experience in recruitment, preferably in the arts or music education sector
● Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with diverse audiences and build relationships
● Excellent organizational and project management abilities
● Knowledge of the local music community and education landscape is a plus
● Familiarity with budgeting and financial management
● Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
● Passion for music education and youth development
Note: This is a part-time position requiring approximately 20 hours per week , with a flexible schedule. The salary for this position is $10,000 per year, with the opportunity for bonus compensation based on performance and the achievement of recruitment targets.
