Job Summary
Bombay Gin, Naropa University’s historic literary journal, is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Editorial Assistant to support our editorial team. This work-study position offers hands-on experience in literary publishing, digital marketing, and community engagement. The Editorial Assistant supports the Bombay Gin Literary Journal Editorial Board and JKS Program Administrator in daily journal operations from updating databases, soliciting contributors, publicizing submission calls, finalizing journal selections, and promoting publication through Bombay Gin Literary Journal events.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Editorial Support:
• Monitor the Submittal account for communications with contributors.
• Update & Synchronize the Submittal account & WordPress blog for the current issue and test/troubleshoot operationality before and during the submission period.
• Participate in regular meetings with the Bombay Gin Literary Journal Editorial Board to discuss production goals and achievements.
• Assist in outreach, coordinate acceptance letters, and maintain relationships with writers and artists.
Publicity & Events
• Develop and implement social media campaigns to promote Bombay Gin Literary Journal and its contributors, increase engagement, and highlight events.
• Use community calendars to promote public events (ie, Boulder Arts Alliance)
• Support journal-related and department events, including readings, launches, pop-up sales, and other local community outreach initiatives.
Administrative Support:
• Assist with copyediting, proofreading, and distribution efforts as needed.
• Maintain editorial processes and procedures manual.
• Other tasks as needed.

• Education: Preference is given to JKS BA Majors and Minors studying creative writing.
• Prior Experience: Background in creative writing, literature, or a related field.
• Experience with event coordination or community outreach.
• Knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Canva, Instagram, or other design and social media tools (not required but a plus).
• Strong writing, communication, and organizational skills.
• Interest in literary publishing, contemporary writing, and small press operations.
• Familiarity with Submittable (or willingness to learn).
• Experience with social media platforms and digital marketing strategies.
• Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
• Current Naropa University student with work-study eligibility. (Preference given to JKS students)
