Job Summary
The GA position will support the Sanskrit curriculum or courses of the Yoga Studies program, including grading for Sanskrit 1. They will also be involved with the development and updating of Canvas modules for courses being created for the Yoga Studies BA program, which is currently developing a stronger online presence, with an eye to possibly launching an online BA degree (with retreat component for Yoga IV and the culmination of Yoga Teacher training). This GA position will also support a number of research initiatives of Ben Williams, director of the Yoga Studies MA program, including a new Sanskrit edition and translation of the Śivasūtravimarśinī, archival projects related to transcribing and digitizing endangered Sanskrit manuscripts, and a translation and study of the devotional hymns of the Kaul lineage that flourished in seventeenth-century Kashmir.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Grading Sanskrit homework, supporting course development, including editing videos and supporting course creation, transcribing Sanskrit texts, and reviewing, editing, and helping to format articles and books, which are currently at different stages of completion.
Minimum Requirements:
• Must be a current graduate student and Naropa University in good standing.
• Background in Yoga Studies and Hinduism, initial studies of Sanskrit including mastery of the devanāgarī script.
• All of the grammar covered in Sanskrit I, versatility with Canvas, and an interest in learning about Yoga Studies curriculum and pedagogy.
