General Job Duties
- Reviews all paint incoming standards, reviewing and documenting all production runs for color, launching new colors, and performing color harmony reviews at customer assembly plants.
Specific Job Duties
- Reviews all paint incoming standards for color and accepts, rejects or requires adjustments as required.
- Visually reviews daily production samples to ensure parts are maintained between OEM master and approved AAR sample.
- Reviews all production runs for color and appearance by collecting, recording and collating X-Rite data, Byk Mac data and wave scan. Keeps log book and tracks data.
- Accepts, rejects or gives direction for adjustments to suppliers and/or feedback to Process Engineers.
- Performs activities related to launching new colors, including but not limited to:
- Accepts / rejects incoming paint based on incoming standards.
- Writes and tracks all VIDs.
- Monitors new paint through Hold Tag System.
- Coordinates new colors with the Mix Room and Process Engineers.
- Upon approval, writes VID for FPS parts.
- Submits color samples and fascias to the QA Lab as required.
- Nascote representative at customer color/appearance reviews.
- Maintains an acceptable attendance record and works overtime as required.
- Color match coordinator for Nascote when Color Coordinator isn't present.
- Stages VIDs and obtains samples.
- Maintains a clean and safe work area.
- Participates in daily plant meetings and department meetings.
- Completes documentation of activities as required.
- Submits cost reduction and Innovation ideas.
- Performs other tasks as assigned.
Skills/Experience Required
- Required - One year continuous work experience.
- Preferred - Experience in evaluating color on automotive ‘A’ surface finishes such as in Paint Inspection or as a Paint Tech.
- Must have good communication skills – both verbal and written.
- Must have the ability to describe subtle differences in color and give specific directions.
- Must have good problem solving skills.
- Must have good computer skills, including ability to learn and use the factory mainframe and X-Rite software.
- Must work well with others.
Educational Requirements
- Required - High School diploma or GED.
- Required - A.S. in technical field.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to at least meet the physical demands as defined by the current production requirements and the job function evaluation. See job function evaluation in the Occupational Nurse’s office for more details.
- Manufacturing environment using normal PPE and safety precautions.
- Must have a valid driver's license and Passport or be able to obtain one.
- Must be able/available to travel either by driving or flying to customer locations and stay for periods of time.
- Must pass the Munsell Color Hue test with a score of 16 or better.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $66,000.00 per year
