Nashville Rescue Mission is actively seeking an Operations Coordinator 1 to join our Men's Operations team. Are you the right person? 

 

Position Schedule: Triweekly Rotating Schedule

Schedule 1: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Schedule 2: Monday - Thursday and Saturday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Schedule 3: Sunday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., Tuesday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

 

The Operations Coordinator serves as a key member of Nashville Rescue Mission’s Operations staff and is responsible for the coordination and supervision of special projects performed by volunteers and work therapy participants. Must have an understanding of Nashville Rescue Mission’s purpose and message and must be an innovative leader with strong management skills and the ability to effectively coordinate multiple projects simultaneously. Upholds the Mission Statement of Faith and Code of Conduct at all times.

 

Essential Duties:  

  1. Coordinates the scheduling of special projects performed by Nashville Rescue Mission Staff, volunteers, and program participants.  
  2. Coordinates details of the special projects with the Director of Operations (materials needed, number of volunteers needed, length of time for completing project, etc.). 
  3. Oversees assigned special projects from start to finish and works hands-on with all groups to complete special projects. 
  4. Knows Mission's statistical information for use when giving tours to volunteer groups. 
  5. Reports completion of all special projects to supervisor. 
  6. Able to complete and maintain the Work Therapy schedule in the absence of the Director of Operations.  
  7. Required to work holidays and rotating weekends. 
  8. Must train and be able to perform as directed in 5 of the 6 areas: 

 

Volunteer Services

  • Assists Director of Volunteer Services in managing volunteer-related communication in a timely and professional manner.
  • Greets volunteers and provides them with volunteer information and explains the procedures for them to become a Mission volunteer.  
  • Helps manage volunteer systems with scheduling, updating information, and inputting waivers.  
  • Manages the volunteer email by sending out daily messages and answering questions from volunteers.   
  • Answers the phone with professionalism and knowledge about the volunteer process.   
  • Provides an updated volunteer schedule to Kitchen, Front Desk, Warehouse, and Guest Services staff members, daily.  

 

Gifts-in-Kind 

  • Greets each donor and accepts each donation.  
  • Thanks and offers a receipt to each donor. 
  • Completes a receipt for every donation.   
  • Ensures all monetary donations are put in the lock box. 
  • Examines, sorts, and determines which donations are for immediate consumption (i.e., kitchen), distribution, or storage and ensures delivery to the appropriate location. 
  • Keeps unauthorized personnel out of the donation area. 
  • Maintains all policies and procedures in the donation area and during the donation process. Trains all program participants and volunteers working in the donation area on said policies and procedures and ensures compliance.  
  • Maintains the cleanliness of the donation and loading dock area.  

 

Warehouse 

  • Orders, receives, sorts, and stores all purchased and donated inventory. 
  • Pulls and delivers supplies for other departments as required.  
  • Maintains the warehouse area in clean, safe, and orderly condition. 
  • Secures warehouse each night and maintains security of the warehouse during hours of operation. 
  • Works with the program participants and volunteers to enhance warehouse operations. 
  • Trains program participants, volunteers, and staff on all warehouse policies and procedures. 

 

Custodial Services 

  • Coordinates and directly supervises program participants from 9:00 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. and from 11:45 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in cleaning and sanitation to ensure the facilities are safe. 
  • Coordinates and supervises the cleanliness of the outside property of the facility. 
  • Ensures the availability and proper mixing of all chemical and cleaning products to maintain a safe working environment as well as an efficient cleaning procedure. 
  • Maintains and services the landscaped areas including all plants, shrubbery, trees, and lawn. 
  • Supervises and directly handles all equipment operations including such items as: floor buffers, floor cleaning machine, carpet cleaner, fans, and similar equipment.  

 

Pick-Up Driver 

  • Receives the truck schedule each morning and completes all pickups efficiently.   
  • Drives the donation truck or other Mission vehicle(s) to pick up donations for Nashville Rescue Mission. These donations come from a variety of sources including corporations, private individuals, or other non-profit organizations. Delivers said donations to both campuses. 
  • Greets donors with courtesy and fills-out donor receipt form with all the required information for every donation. 
  • Turns in all applicable paperwork at the end of each workday. 
  • Reports any vehicle maintenance issues, safety violations, or moving/non-moving violations immediately to Director of Operations. 
  • Follows all policies and procedures regarding the use of the fuel card and keeps a detailed record of any and all expenditures. 
  • Maintains vehicle and other records as required by supervisor. 
  • Trains program participants and volunteers assisting in the donation processes to follow all policies and procedures. 

 

Kitchen 

  • Follows the written meal schedule as set by the Food Service Manager. 
  • Instructs staff, program participants, and volunteers in health department standards, food preparation methods, and cooking. 
  • Oversees preparation and daily use of perishable foods. 
  • Oversees sanitation of dining room before and after meals. 
  • Maintains knowledge of current health department regulations.
